In case you’ve somehow missed the massive news, former-My Chemical Romance<\/strong>\u00a0frontman Gerard Way<\/strong>‘s comic book series The Umbrella Academy is being adapted by Netflix into a live-action television series.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The show is currently in production, with the premiere set for next month.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Details about Gerard’s involvement in the process, beyond the initial announcement that he’s\u00a0co-executive producer on the series. But he’s now revealed a little more about his involvement in the process in an interview with Collider<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Gerard shared “What I did for Steve Blackman (the showrunner) and the writers in that first writers room was to create an 18 page document that laid everything out. Even of the graphic novels that haven\u2019t come out yet. Which should equal eight when we\u2019re all done. So I gave them the blueprint for what happens, because you do want to seed certain things in there for future series and the hope is that it\u2019s a success so that you do a lot more of these. They\u2019re very curious what Gabriel and I are doing next. We always send them the new comics. They really want to know what\u2019s happening.”<\/em><\/p>\n

So essentially, he’s developed a compehensive guide to the universe that The Umbrella Academy is set in, and all upcoming unreleased story arcs to help craft the narrative of the show.\u00a0<\/p>\n
