{"id":480755,"date":"2019-01-11T08:31:20","date_gmt":"2019-01-11T15:31:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/?p=777671"},"modified":"2019-01-11T08:31:20","modified_gmt":"2019-01-11T15:31:20","slug":"hear-meat-puppets-original-lineups-new-nine-pins","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/kqzr\/music-news\/hear-meat-puppets-original-lineups-new-nine-pins\/","title":{"rendered":"Hear Meat Puppets\u2019 Original Lineup\u2019s New \u2018Nine Pins\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/meatpuppets.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"\/><\/div>\n<p>The original lineup of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/meat-puppets\/\" id=\"auto-tag_meat-puppets\" data-tag=\"meat-puppets\">Meat Puppets<\/a> \u2013 vocalist-guitarist Curt Kirkwood, bassist-vocalist Chris Kirkwood and drummer Derrick Bostrom \u2013 have recorded a new album, <em>Dusty Notes<\/em>, and set tour dates for a run of U.S. shows this spring. \u201cNine Pins,\u201d the first track from the new LP, which is due out March 8th, is a country-rock rave-up with rattling acoustic guitar, an upbeat rhythm and Curt\u2019s lyrics about the moon shining down on a little piece of ground. The group previously released another country-tinged number, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=-gny-gp8J9A\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">\u201cWarranty.\u201d<\/a> It\u2019s the first time this lineup has recorded together since 1995\u2019s <em>No Joke!<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The album will be available in a variety of formats. On March 1st, the band will release a \u201cbootleg\u201d version of the record on black vinyl in a white jacket, limited to 300 copies. Arizona and Las Vegas record chain Zia will be offering a pressing of the vinyl with \u201cswamp and olive\u201d splatter coloring on March 8th, a date that will also see the regular swamp and olive release.<\/p>\n<p>The lineup first reunited in 2017 for a performance at the Arizona Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame, where they played \u201cLake of Fire\u201d \u2013 the song they played with Nirvana on that band\u2019s <em>Unplugged<\/em> episode \u2013 as well as \u201cPlateau\u201d and \u201cBackwater.\u201d \u201cIt was so intense that even I couldn\u2019t deny it,\u201d Bostrom, who stopped playing with the band after their 1996 breakup and did not participate in further reunions, said in a statement. \u201cI remember why we did this. It was magical.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The group will be hitting the road in April for a month and a half of gigs.
