Not So Much"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/mariano-rivera-metallica.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"\/><\/div>\n<p>For years, it was one of baseball\u2019s most reliable traditions: Yankee closer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/mariano-rivera\/\" id=\"auto-tag_mariano-rivera\" data-tag=\"mariano-rivera\">Mariano Rivera<\/a> trotting out from the bullpen to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/metallica\/\" id=\"auto-tag_metallica\" data-tag=\"metallica\">Metallica<\/a>\u2019s \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/enter-sandman\/\" id=\"auto-tag_enter-sandman\" data-tag=\"enter-sandman\">Enter Sandman<\/a>.\u201d It was fitting theme music for a guy who, as the saying goes, put bats to sleep. During Rivera\u2019s final season, in 2013, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/metallica-play-enter-sandman-for-mariano-rivera-69818\/\">Metallica even showed up at Yankee Stadium<\/a> to perform the 1991 hit as the pitcher\u2019s number was retired.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, Rivera became the first player ever unanimously elected to baseball\u2019s Hall of Fame, and Metallica sent along a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mlb.com\/cut4\/metallica-congratulates-mariano-rivera-on-hall-of-fame\/c-303002582\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">heartfelt message of congratulations<\/a>. In an interview with the MLB Network, Rivera watched the clip and responded with gratitude. \u201cThat is amazing,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019m telling you, it\u2019s a blessing on top of blessings. I have so much respect for those guys. I met them and they\u2019re great people, great great people.
