The Who<\/a> recruited Pearl Jam<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0Eddie Vedder<\/a> and the Kaiser Chiefs to open an upcoming gig at London\u2019s Wembley Stadium on July 6th, the first U.K. date they\u2019ve\u00a0announced<\/a>\u00a0as part of their symphonic \u201cMoving On\u201d tour.<\/span><\/p>\n

General tickets go on sale Friday, February 1st at 3 p.m. ET. Fans can access a pre-sale by pre-ordering<\/a> signed copies of the band\u2019s upcoming LP from their webstore.<\/span><\/p>\n

Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey recently announced\u00a0two North American legs<\/a> of the \u201cMoving On\u201d trek, which includes full orchestral accompaniment at all dates. The summer run kicks off May 7th in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and the fall stint launches September 6th in St. Paul, Minnesota.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cBe aware Who fans!,\u201d Daltrey said in a statement upon announcing the trek. \u201cJust because it\u2019s\u00a0<\/span>The Who<\/span>\u00a0with an orchestra, in no way will it compromise the way Pete and I deliver our music. This will be full throttle Who with horns and bells on.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

While the duo have yet to finish their next LP, which will be their first since 2006\u2019s Endless Wire<\/em><\/a>, Townshend only agreed to the tour if they had new songs ready to record. \u201cI said I was not going to sign any contracts unless we have new material,\u201d the guitarist-songwriter told Rolling Stone<\/em>\u2018s Andy Greene. \u201cThis has nothing to do with wanting a hit album. It has nothing to do with the fact that the Who need a new album. It\u2019s purely personal. It\u2019s about my pride, my sense of self-worth and self-dignity as a writer.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Townshend told Rolling Stone<\/em>\u00a0in early January that, at that time, the record consisted of 15 demos, which he recorded in late 2018 at five studios throughout England. He said he hoped Daltrey will record his vocals later this year for an eventual 2019 release.<\/span><\/p>\n

For the time being, the Who are focused on the symphonic tour, which Daltrey pitched after performing their album Tommy<\/em> with orchestras in summer 2018. \u201cI\u2019ll be 75 years old in March and this feels like a dignified way to go and do music,\u201d he said. \u201cThat\u2019s all we\u2019re really left with. We\u2019re old men now. We\u2019ve lost the looks. We\u2019ve lost the glamour. What we\u2019re left with is the music and we\u2019re going to present it in a way which is as fresh and powerful as ever.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
