Founding Kiss<\/a> guitarist Ace Frehley<\/a> posted a scathing Facebook message<\/a> to Gene Simmons<\/a> on Tuesday, alleging that Simmons\u2019 statements about Frehley\u2019s alcohol abuse over the years cost him millions and that Simmons had groped his wife. After the allegations, he included a threat: \u201cWithout a complete and heartfelt apology, an offer to give me my old job back and removing Tommy [Thayer, guitarist] from the throne I created, the shit will hit the fan and they\u2019ll<\/em> [sic<\/em>] be no stopping it. It\u2019s on!!!\u201d<\/em> He concluded the post with an image of him pointing at a camera emblazoned with the words, \u201cThe gloves are off!!\u201d<\/p>\n

The post is an apparent response to an interview Gene Simmons gave Guitar World<\/em>, in which Simmons said he was not sure yet if he would invite Frehley and original drummer Peter Criss on the group\u2019s upcoming End of the Road Tour. \u201cAce and Peter have gotten three chances,\u201d Simmons said, according to Blabbermouth<\/a>. \u201cThey were in and out of the band \u2014 fired \u2014 three times. For drugs, alcohol, bad behavior, being unprofessional \u2026 they weren\u2019t carrying their load. \u2026 So the short answer to your question is we\u2019d love to have Ace and Peter join us here and there. And if they don\u2019t, it\u2019s not going to be because of us. But they\u2019re never going to be in Kiss again.\u201d<\/p>\n

Regarding his last statement, that they\u2019d never be full members, Simmons added, \u201cThree times is the charm; \u2018I promise I\u2019ll pull out\u2019 doesn\u2019t work. It\u2019s the boy who cried wolf: \u2018Oh, I\u2019ve been straight for a million years.\u2019 Terrific! Have a good life! \u2026 Would we welcome Ace or Peter to jump up onstage for a song or two? Of course. Could we depend on either Ace of Peter to do a full set night after night? Not on your fucking life.\u201d<\/p>\n

In his response, Frehley corrected Simmons by saying that he was never fired three times; he quit twice \u201cbecause you and Paul were control freaks, untrustworthy and were too difficult to work with.\u201d And he wrote that he is 12 years sober and that he\u2019s hurt by Simmons\u2019 remarks about his past demons.<\/p>\n

The most damning turn, though, was when Frehley accused Simmons of sexual misconduct toward his wife. \u201cThe icing on the cake was when you groped my wife and propositioned her in Los Angeles at the Capitol Records building behind my back, when I was trying to help you out at one of your \u2018Vault Experiences,’\u201d he wrote, referring to Simmons\u2019 high-priced box set, which included a visit to the purchaser\u2019s house for the right price. \u201cI only found out about [the proposition] several weeks later. She was planning on pursuing a suit against you, but I told her to call it off!!!\u201d<\/p>\n

Frehley claimed that he\u2019d become the most successful solo artist to emerge from Kiss, and that he\u2019d attempted to extend an olive branch to his former bandmates by asking them to guest on his solo records. He claimed he also had given each of them a Gibson Les Paul. But things are different now. \u201cToday\u2019s comments have made me realize you\u2019re just an asshole and a sex addict who\u2019s being sued by multiple women, and you\u2019re just trying to sweep it all under the carpet!\u201d<\/p>\n

Regarding the lawsuits, Frehley may be referring to one filed by an anonymous on-air personality in California who claimed Simmons made \u201cseveral aggressive, unwanted sexual advances\u201d toward her<\/a> in 2017; Simmons settled it out of court.<\/p>\n

Simmons played bass and co-wrote the song \u201cWithout You I\u2019m Nothing\u201d on Frehley\u2019s 2018 album Spaceman<\/em>, and also co-wrote the LP\u2019s \u201cYour Wish Is My Command.\u201d Paul Stanley<\/a>, meanwhile, appeared on Frehley\u2019s 2015 covers album, Origins, Vol. 1<\/em>, singing a rendition of Free\u2019s \u201cFire and Water.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kiss will kick off their End of the Road Tour<\/a> \u2013 with longtime members Thayer and drummer Eric Singer in the lineup \u2013 with a gig in Vancouver on January 31st; they\u2019ll return to North America for another leg of dates<\/a> in the fall. Next month, the band will perform a special, invite-only show at Los Angeles\u2019 Whisky a Go Go for Sirius XM; it will be broadcast on Howard Stern\u2019s channel<\/a> on February 15th at 9 p.m. ET.<\/p>\n
