{"id":481775,"date":"2019-02-04T07:35:59","date_gmt":"2019-02-04T14:35:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/?p=789469"},"modified":"2019-02-04T07:35:59","modified_gmt":"2019-02-04T14:35:59","slug":"on-the-charts-backstreets-back-at-number-one-with-dna","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/kqzr\/music-news\/on-the-charts-backstreets-back-at-number-one-with-dna\/","title":{"rendered":"On the Charts: Backstreet\u2019s Back \u2026 at Number One With \u2018DNA\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/shutterstock_9761489ac.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"\/><\/div>\n<p>Nearly 20 years after their last Number One album, Backstreet Boys are back atop the Billboard 200 with the boy band\u2019s new album <em>DNA<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/backstreet-boys\/\">Backstreet Boys<\/a>\u2018 first Number One LP since 2000\u2019s <em>Black &amp; Blue<\/em> sold 227,000 total copies in its first week of release, a number largely <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/backstreet-boys-dna-number-one-album-stuart-crichton-787765\/\">bolstered by a deal that bundled<\/a> a free copy of the album with each ticket purchased for the group\u2019s upcoming tour in support of <em>DNA<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><em>DNA<\/em> marks Backstreet Boys\u2019 third Number One album, following 1999\u2019s <em>Millennium<\/em> and 2000\u2019s <em>Black &amp; Blue<\/em>, and the album gave the quintet their best first-week sales since 2005\u2019s <em>Never Gone<\/em>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/articles\/columns\/chart-beat\/8496211\/backstreet-boys-first-no-1-album-20-years-billboard-200\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Billboard<\/em> reports<\/a>. While the 19-year gap between Number One LPs might seem like a record, Paul McCartney ended a 36-year Number One wait in 2018 with <em>Egypt Station<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><em>DNA<\/em> was the lone new release in the Top 10, although Weezer\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/weezer-africa-covers-lp-the-teal-album-783780\/\">surprise teal-colored self-titled covers album<\/a> made its first appearance in the upper tier by jumping from Number 47 to Number Five; the \u201cTeal Album\u201d release clipped the final eligible day of the previous sales week. In its first full week of availability, the covers LP sold 39,000 total copies.<\/p>\n<p>The rest of the Top 10 remained largely unchanged as last week\u2019s Number One, Future\u2019s <em>The WIZRD<\/em>, dropped one spot to Number Two, followed by a Boogie Wit da Hoodie\u2019s\u00a0<em>Hoodie SZN<\/em> at Number Three and <em>A Star Is Born<\/em> soundtrack at Number Four.<\/p>\n<p>Post Malone\u2019s <em>Beerbongs &amp; Bentleys<\/em> led the bottom half of the Top 10 at Number Six.
