The singers kicked things off with a rendition of St. Vincent\u2019s Grammy-nominated \u201cMasseduction,\u201d followed by a little bit of Aretha Franklin\u2019s \u201cRespect\u201d and Dua Lipa\u2019s \u201cOne Kiss,\u201d which was originally a duet with Calvin Harris.<\/p>\n<p>St. Vincent dressed in all black and played a black guitar solo, as she sang \u201cMasseduction.\u201d Dua Lipa, dressed in black and white,\u00a0 came from the shadows behind her and the two traded verses on the Franklin hit before facing off with each other as Dua Lipa sang \u201cOne Kiss.,\u201d which St. Vincent augmented with some elastic soloing. Prior to the broadcast, she won the latter award. She released her self-titled debut in 2017, and it\u2019s since been certified gold by the RIAA.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s something that I\u2019m really proud of, to see how many women are nominated for the Best New Artist award at the Grammys,\u201d she told <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/dua-lipa-grammys-music-2019-779203\/\">Rolling Stone<\/a><\/em> of the Grammys\u2019 recognition in January. \u201cI think it\u2019s really exciting to just be a part of it \u2013 it feels like a revolutionary time in music to see so many women be given that opportunity.\u201d Her latest single is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/dua-lipa-new-song-swan-song-783871\/\">\u201cSwan Song,\u201d<\/a> which appears on the soundtrack to Robert Rodriguez\u2019s upcoming film, <em>Alita: Battle Angel<\/em>, which is due out on Valentine\u2019s Day.<\/p>\n<p>St. Vincent was also nominated for two Grammys this year. She was up for Best Alternative Music Album, recognizing her 2017 album <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-album-reviews\/review-st-vincent-bites-back-on-pop-indebted-masseduction-127214\/\">Masseduction<\/a><\/em>, as well as Best Rock Song, for the track \u201cMasseduction.\u201d She won the latter but lost the former to Beck\u2019s\u00a0<em>Colors<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Late last year, she released <em>MassEducation<\/em>, a stripped-back re-recording of her last album that featured her singing along with only a piano played by Thomas Bartlett. She has played sporadic shows in support of the latter release, which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-live-reviews\/st-vincent-masseducation-brooklyn-concert-annie-clark-759272\/\">show off a new side to her<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In other St. Vincent News, she recently announced that she is serving as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/sleater-kinney-announce-new-album-produced-by-st-vincent-776434\/\">producer for a new album to Sleater-Kinney<\/a>. The band has yet to announce a title or release date for the record.
