It was a positive split for her. It\u2019s giving her back creative control.\u201d He says the exit \u201ctook a little while to figure out,\u201d but has been final for \u201ca month or so.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>RCA did not respond to repeated requests for comment. However, Tinashe is no longer listed on the label\u2019s roster page on its website.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Tinashe publicly announced her RCA signing in a YouTube video in 2012. She released her major-label debut,<\/span> <em><span>Aquarius<\/span><\/em><span>, in 2014. That album included her breakout single \u201c2 On,\u201d which eventually earned a platinum certification. Two years later, Tinashe put out the<\/span> <em><span>Nightride<\/span><\/em> <span>mixtape, and two years after that, she released the<\/span> <em><span>Joyride<\/span><\/em> <span>album, which included collaborations with both hip-hop stars (Future) and indie darlings (Little Dragon).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>At times, Tinashe\u2019s relationship with her label appeared fractious. In a 2016 interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/tinashes-nightride-singer-talks-winding-journey-to-new-surprise-release-115147\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Rolling Stone<\/em><\/a>, the singer cited unspecified \u201ccreative differences\u201d with RCA.\u00a0During an<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/soundcloud.com\/tinashebrasil\/tinashe-talks-with-lena-dunham-about-a-song-she-was-forced-to-record-in-the-past\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\"><span>interview with Lena Dunham<\/span><\/a><span>\u00a0not long after, Tinashe alleged that her A&amp;R once pushed her to record a song despite her protests: \u201cI\u00a0<\/span><span>couldn\u2019t, as an artist, get behind the lyrics.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>But Nazzaro says that Tinashe\u2019s split with RCA has<\/span> <span>\u201cbeen a respectful separation on both sides.\u201d \u201cHer relationship with RCA was a long-term relationship, but they needed space,\u201d he adds. \u201cIt was time to part ways.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cShe\u2019s excited for this next step in her career,\u201d he continues. \u201cWe\u2019re trying to decide now, if we want new partners, who the next ones will be.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/tinashe-no-longer-signed-rca-795297\/\" target=\"_blank\">via:: Rolling Stone<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tinashe is no longer signed with the record label RCA, according to her longtime manager, Mike Nazzaro.
