Christone \u201cKingfish<\/a>\u201d Ingram, the 20-year-old blues prodigy from Clarksdale, Mississippi who made Rolling Stone\u2019s Hot List<\/a> last year, is already having a big 2019: He just signed to Alligator Records, with his first album, Kingfish<\/em>, due in May. He\u2019s also opening for one of his mentors, Buddy Guy<\/a>, this spring, and he\u2019s spending August and September reaching a very different audience on the road with Vampire Weekend<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Guy joins Ingram on \u201cFresh Out,\u201d a powerhouse slow blues from Kingfish<\/em>, with the younger man (a self-proclaimed \u201cold soul\u201d) holding his own on guitar against Guy, who released his first single back in 1958. \u201cFor my first record, I wanted to come out and give what I was known for in the beginning,\u201d Ingram told Rolling Stone<\/em>, \u201cwhich was traditional blues.\u201d<\/p>\n
