{"id":482453,"date":"2019-02-20T08:08:59","date_gmt":"2019-02-20T15:08:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/?p=795070"},"modified":"2019-02-20T08:08:59","modified_gmt":"2019-02-20T15:08:59","slug":"stephen-malkmus-gets-animated-in-trippy-rushing-the-acid-frat-video","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/kqzr\/music-news\/stephen-malkmus-gets-animated-in-trippy-rushing-the-acid-frat-video\/","title":{"rendered":"Stephen Malkmus Gets Animated in Trippy \u2018Rushing the Acid Frat\u2019 Video"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/malkmus-acid-frat-video.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"\/><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/stephen-malkmus\/\" id=\"auto-tag_stephen-malkmus\" data-tag=\"stephen-malkmus\">Stephen Malkmus<\/a>\u2019 new album, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/stephen-malkmus-groove-denied-interview-780840\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Groove Denied<\/em><\/a>, has some weird and cool electro-pop leanings, but it\u2019s also got a handful of the chill guitar jams the former Pavement frontman is best known for. \u201cRushing the Acid Frat\u201d is one of the best songs in the latter category, and now it\u2019s got a trippy animated music video directed by Robert Strange of indie-pop group Superorganism.<\/p>\n<p>Malkmus has said that \u201cRushing the Acid Frat\u201d is based, in part, on a specific Deadhead-friendly frat he recalls from his undergrad days at the University of Virginia. \u201cI was imagining a fraternity where they just take acid all the time,\u201d he recently told <em>RS<\/em>. \u201cThat\u2019s what \u2018Louie Louie\u2019 would sound like to those guys, if you\u2019re having a bad trip or something.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the video, a squiggly Malkmus toon ambles through Los Angeles before finding himself on the moon, while an Exploding Plastic Inevitable-type psychedelic projection unfolds behind him. Far-out!<\/p>\n<p><em>Groove Denied<\/em> is out March 15th.
