In the clip, she\u2019s seen alone in a cavernous room as she elegantly moves to the melodies, plays piano and later cathartically sings as rain comes down. The singer yearns for something that is no longer concrete. \u201cI\u2019m still in love with the idea of loving you,\u201d she sings. \u201cIt\u2019s a state of flux, but it\u2019s not enough.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2018Flux\u2019 is a song that I wrote entirely from the heart that seemed to capture how I felt about not ever being able to let go of a past love, even though it was over for a reason,\u201d Goulding said in a statement. \u201cI feel like I am in a constant state of change and upheaval and it makes me unable to root myself and get over things easily.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn this record I found myself taking inspiration from different relationships and stages in my life,\u201d she continued. \u201cThe past two years have been the first time I\u2019ve really been able to confront my survival techniques throughout my work \u2013 to be able to reflect on how being on tour nonstop, performing, and having to be \u2018OK\u2019 all the time affected me as a human being and how it took its toll on my relationships.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in the month, Goulding appeared in Clean Bandit\u2019s Trump-parodying \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/clean-bandit-ellie-goulding-donald-trump-mama-video-799924\/\">Mama<\/a>\u201d video.
