The Black Keys<\/a> have unveiled their scorching, psychedelic new song \u201cLo\/Hi.\u201d It\u2019s the duo\u2019s \u2013 Dan Auerbach<\/a> and Patrick Carney<\/a> \u2013 first new music since their 2014 album, Turn Blue<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Written and produced by Auerbach and Carney, they recorded the single at Auerbach\u2019s Easy Eye Sound studio in Nashville, Tennessee. \u201cLo\/Hi\u201d finds the duo in a classic blues-rock mode, with Auerbach moaning over a distorted riff and his bandmate\u2019s crunching drum track. \u201cNobody to love you, nobody to care,\u201d he sings. \u201cNobody to drug you, no one to hold back your hair.\u201d Later, the track peaks with a blistering guitar solo.<\/p>\n

Though this is Auerbach and Carney\u2019s first new Black Keys material in five years, separately they have been working on a number of projects. Auerbach launched Easy Eye Sound record label, named after his recording studio, in 2017. The label will release Leo \u201cBud\u201d Welch\u2019s posthumous LP, The Angels in Heaven Done Signed My Name<\/em><\/a>, this Friday. Recently, Auerbach produced Dee White\u2019s debut album, Southern Gentleman<\/em><\/a>, which as well as Yola\u2019s debut LP, Walk Through the Fire<\/em><\/a>. Auerbach also co-wrote recent tunes with Tim O\u2019Brien (\u201cAmazing Love<\/a>\u201c) and Cactus Blossoms (\u201cGot a Lotta Love<\/a>\u201c). Auerbach\u2019s second solo album, Waiting On a Song<\/em><\/a>, was released in 2017.<\/p>\n

In the interim between Black Keys material, Carney has also produced and recorded new music with a variety of artists including co-writing and producing Calvin Johnson\u2019s A Wonderful Beast<\/em><\/a>, which was released in 2018, and producing his partner Michelle Branch\u2019s 2017 LP, Hopeless Romantic<\/em><\/a>. Carney also penned the theme music for Netflix\u2019s BoJack Horseman<\/em> with his late uncle, Ralph Carney.<\/p>\n
