{"id":483852,"date":"2019-03-25T11:01:43","date_gmt":"2019-03-25T17:01:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/?p=812752"},"modified":"2019-03-25T11:01:43","modified_gmt":"2019-03-25T17:01:43","slug":"watch-billy-joel-play-two-creedence-classics-with-john-fogerty","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/kqzr\/music-news\/watch-billy-joel-play-two-creedence-classics-with-john-fogerty\/","title":{"rendered":"Watch Billy Joel Play Two Creedence Classics With John Fogerty"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/10164254b.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/billy-joel\/\" id=\"auto-tag_billy-joel\" data-tag=\"billy-joel\">Billy Joel<\/a> was 11 songs into his set at Madison Square Garden last week when he stopped to briefly address the crowd. \u201cComing out to do a song or two with us,\u201d he said, \u201cplease welcome <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/john-fogerty\/\" id=\"auto-tag_john-fogerty\" data-tag=\"john-fogerty\">John Fogerty<\/a>!\u201d With that, the former Creedence Clearwater Revival frontman ran out onstage as the band kicked into CCR\u2019s 1970 hit \u201cUp Around The Bend.\u201d They followed it up with a powerful \u201cFortunate Son.\u201d You can watch stellar fan-shot footage of the whole thing right here.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s the first time that Fogerty has guested with Joel at this Madison Square Garden residency, where he\u2019s played with everyone from Miley Cyrus and Paul Simon to John Mayer, Steve Miller, Tony Bennett and AC\/DC\u2019s Brian Johnson. Joel turns 70 on May 9th and he\u2019s celebrating with a show at MSG where it feels practically inevitable that he\u2019ll be joined by at least one or two surprise guests.<\/p>\n<p>Fogerty, meanwhile, is resuming his residency at Wynn in Las Vegas on April 10th and is also booked to play Jazz Fest on May 5th and the Bourbon and Beyond Festival in Louisville, Kentucky on September 20th.<\/p>\n<p>Fogerty was in New York City to appear at a press event at New York\u2019s Electric Lady Studios to announce the lineup for Woodstock 50. He\u2019s one of many vets from the original festival that will be returning. \u201cI don\u2019t expect it to be the same,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/woodstock-50-details-full-lineup-with-jay-z-dead-company-killers-809290\/\">Fogerty told the media.<\/a> \u201cThe mood in the country is different, similar in many respects, but different. I\u2019m very glad that I\u2019m able to be here 50 years later celebrating it. I hope to have a great time. I\u2019m going to be playing most of the same songs that I played then. I\u2019ve had a few more songs since then.
