The holograms of late rock icons Roy Orbison<\/a> and Buddy Holly<\/a> will share the stage on the upcoming \u201cRock \u2018N\u2019 Roll Dream Tour.\u201d The trek \u2014 which features a live band and backing singers, along with remastered audio \u2014 will include concurrent North American and European legs. <\/span>Tickets go on sale Friday, March 29th.<\/span><\/p>\n

In a statement announcing the jaunt, Roy Orbison, Jr., President of Roy Orbison Music, spoke about the two songwriters\u2019 history of in-person collaboration.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cMy father\u2019s music meant the world to not just to us Orbisons but to millions of fans worldwide,\u201d he said. \u201cBeing able to reopen his legendary songbook and again hear his voice bounce off great concert hall walls is both a transcendent and cathartic experience. Dad jammed with Buddy in Lubbock Texas and helped change music history by turning Buddy on to Norman Petty Studios; Buddy later returned the favor by recording two of Dad\u2019s songs on his first Cricket\u2019s album. How beyond cool and special that these two great friends, now get to tour the world together.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Buddy\u2019s wife, Maria Elena Holly, added that the duo were \u201cTexans who shared a mutual respect and admiration for each other\u2019s creative musical genius and brilliant songwriting abilities.\u201d She continued, \u201cI am proud to work with a company like BASE Hologram. Their long-time fans and a new generation of fans will now have the opportunity to see these great legends perform together in a unique setting, showcasing two of the finest, most influential, and beloved artists in music history.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The \u201cRock \u2018N\u2019 Roll Dream Tour\u201d follows a \u201csolo\u201d Orbison hologram outing<\/a> that launched in 2018. Eric Schaeffer, who directed \u201cIn Dreams: Roy Orbison in Concert,\u201d will return for the joint trek. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe Bizarre World of Frank Zappa,\u201d<\/a> a hologram tour featuring some of the late musician\u2019s former bandmates, launches in April. <\/span><\/p>\n
