The Killers<\/a> performed their politically charged recent single, \u201cLand of the Free<\/a>,\u201d for the first time live in their Las Vegas, Nevada hometown during Jimmy Kimmel Live<\/a><\/em> on Monday. The TV show, which normally broadcasts from Los Angeles, is shooting in Vegas this week. The Killers also delivered 2004\u2019s Hot Fuss<\/em> single, \u201cAll These Things That I\u2019ve Done.\u201d<\/p>\n

Singer Brandon Flowers opened the song alone on piano before a choir chimed in with a repeated chorus of \u201cland of the free\u201d and the rest of the band joined in. The song criticizes President Trump\u2019s proposed border wall, institutional racism and America\u2019s gun violence. Towards the end of the performance, Flowers rose from the piano and took center stage to deliver a powerful a capella. \u201cSo how many daughters, tell me how many sons do we have to put in the ground before we just break down and face it?\u201d he queries. \u201cWe\u2019ve got a problem with guns.\u201d<\/p>\n

In January, the band released the Spike Lee-directed video for the song, which highlights the struggles and resiliency of real-life migrant families near the U.S.\/Mexican border. The Killers are slated to perform at a number of festivals beginning this summer, including the U.K.\u2019s Glastonbury<\/a> in June, Forecastle Festival<\/a> in Louisville, Kentucky in July, Woodstock 50<\/a> in Watkins Glen, New York in August and Nashville, Tennessee\u2019s Pilgrimage Festival<\/a> in September.<\/p>\n
