{"id":484400,"date":"2019-04-07T19:46:39","date_gmt":"2019-04-08T01:46:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/?p=818902"},"modified":"2019-04-07T19:46:39","modified_gmt":"2019-04-08T01:46:39","slug":"solange-cancels-coachella-sets-due-to-major-production-delays","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/kqzr\/music-news\/solange-cancels-coachella-sets-due-to-major-production-delays\/","title":{"rendered":"Solange Cancels Coachella Sets Due to \u2018Major Production Delays\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/shutterstock_9662984gj.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p>Less than a week before <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/solange\/\" id=\"auto-tag_solange\" data-tag=\"solange\">Solange<\/a> was set to appear onstage at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/coachella\/\" id=\"auto-tag_coachella\" data-tag=\"coachella\">Coachella<\/a>, the singer has canceled her upcoming sets due to unspecified \u201cmajor production delays.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDue to major production delays, Solange will unfortunately no longer be performing at this year\u2019s festival,\u201d organizers <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/coachella\/status\/1115041622297694208\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">wrote Sunday night<\/a> on Twitter. \u201cShe sends her sincerest apologies, and looks forward to performing at Coachella in the future.\u201d Solange\u2019s cancellation will apply to both weekends of the festival, <em>Rolling Stone<\/em> has learned.<\/p>\n<p>A rep for Goldenvoice, the production company behind Coachella, referred a request for more information to Solange\u2019s spokesperson. A rep for Solange referred <em>Rolling Stone<\/em> to the festival organizers\u2019 tweet and declined to comment further. Solange has not commented on the cancellation as of Sunday night.<\/p>\n<p>The singer, who released her latest album <em>When I Get Home<\/em> last month, was scheduled to perform alongside Kid Cudi, Weezer, Aphex Twin, J Balvin and headliners Tame Impala.<\/p>\n<p>The 19-track <em>When I Get Home<\/em> is her first since 2016\u2019s <em>A Seat at the Table<\/em> and includes contributions from Metro Boomin, Pharrell, Earl Sweatshirt, Tyler, the Creator, Playboi Carti and more.&nbsp;Solange <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/making-of-solange-when-i-get-home-801973\/\">oversaw the making of the album<\/a> with scrupulous care, starting in Houston and then continuing later in sessions in Los Angeles and Jamaica.&nbsp;\u201cThe best [approach] for me is to invite people into the space and say \u2018do you,\u2019\u201d the star explained during a Houston album-release event that was live-streamed by Apple Music. \u201cIt could be six hours before I hear the one ad-lib or the one thing where I think, \u2018OK, that is how I can extend this into an expression of what I want to achieve.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s been three years since Solange released&nbsp;<em>A Seat at the Table<\/em>, her commercial breakthrough: The album sold the equivalent of 72,000 copies opening week, delivering the singer her first Number One on the Billboard 200.
