The track is a simple acoustic ballad buoyed by a low rumble of drums and soft strings, while late singer Dolores O\u2019Riordan softens her vocals to place the emphasis on her words: \u201cAin\u2019t it strange?\u201d she sings, \u201cWhen everything you wanted\/Was nothing like you wanted?\/In the end.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cIn the End\u201d follows previously released album cuts <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/the-cranberries-new-song-wake-me-when-its-over-810069\/\">\u201cWake Me When It\u2019s Over,\u201d<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/the-cranberries-all-over-now-video-dolores-oriordan-804944\/\">\u201cAll Over Now\u201d<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=7SBcEEUbBjc\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">\u201cThe Pressure.\u201d<\/a> O\u2019Riordan and Cranberries guitarist Noel Hogan began working on all the songs on the LP before <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/dolores-oriordan-the-cranberries-singer-dead-at-46-253547\/\">O\u2019Riordan\u2019s death<\/a> last January. After several months of mourning, Hogan and the rest of the Cranberries enlisted producer Stephen Street \u2014 who\u2019d previous helmed four Cranberries records \u2014 to help them finish the album.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The Cranberries have no intention to replace O\u2019Riordan or remain a band after the release of <em>In the End<\/em>. \u201cIt\u2019s not something we\u2019re ever going to entertain,\u201d Hogan <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/the-cranberries-final-album-interview-790271\/\">told <em>Rolling Stone<\/em><\/a>. \u201cI think the band accomplished a lot, and I think we\u2019ll leave it on a high with this album.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/the-cranberries-new-song-in-the-end-final-album-822992\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">via:: Rolling Stone<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Cranberries unveiled the poignant title-track from their upcoming final album, In the End, out April 26th via BMG.
