Beyonc\u00e9 surprise-released a new song, \u201cBefore I Let Go,\u201d that serves as both the closing credits song to her new Netflix documentary\/concert film<\/a> Homecoming<\/em> and a studio bonus track to her unannounced companion LP Homecoming: The Live Album<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cBefore I Let Go,\u201d a cover of the 1981 single by Maze, boasts a shuffling drum groove buoyed by delightful horn stabs that pop up around Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s powerhouse vocals. The track is primarily a high-energy love track \u2014 \u201cYou know, I thank God sun rises and shines on you\/You know there\u2019s nothing, nothing, nothing I would not do\/Before I let you go\u201d \u2014 though the song closes with Beyonc\u00e9 cheekily flexing about her legendary Coachella performance<\/a>.<\/p>\n

As Variety<\/em><\/a> noted, Destiny\u2019s Child recorded their own version of \u201cBefore I Let Go\u201d but it remains unreleased. Homecoming: The Live Album<\/em> also features a studio version of the Beychella song \u201cI Been On.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s Homecoming<\/em> concert film was slated to arrive<\/a> on Netflix today, April 17th, the pop star had given no indication that she would also release the accompanying live album and \u201cBefore I Let Go.\u201d The live album, also titled Homecoming<\/em>, is split into 40 tracks and captures the same Coachella set, including solo hits, her reunion with Destiny\u2019s Child, various interludes and a version of the hymn, \u201cLift Every Voice and Sing,\u201d which features her daughter Blue Ivy.<\/p>\n

Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s Homecoming<\/em> bundle marks her first major solo release since 2016\u2019s Lemonade<\/em><\/a>. Last year, she and husband Jay-Z released the collaborative album, Everything Is Love<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n
