The anthemic song features Michaels and Lany frontman Paul Klein on vocals over a rumbling instrumental of xx-style electric guitars and underwater synths. Lyrically, \u201cOkay\u201d describes recent breakups that the two protagonists have gone through, and light reassurance that they\u2019ll make it through the bitter aftermath: \u201cI\u2019m gonna be okay, right?\/I wish I could tell myself that at night.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Of the writing of the song, Michaels <a href=\"https:\/\/itunes.apple.com\/us\/post\/idsa.f5c9caf0-655c-11e9-a7f2-236f14c469a8?app=music&amp;=be1_con_zan&amp;ign-itsct=be1_con_zan&amp;ign-itscg=30302\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">told<\/a> Zane Lowe of Beats 1, \u201cIt was a pretty intense day. Emotionally, we had both been going through a lot\u2026and it was our first time really even meeting. So when you have that time together, and then you\u2019re like, \u2018Okay, let\u2019s spill everything out on the table,\u2019 it can get a little heavy. There was a point where [Paul] looked at me, very serious, and said, \u2018I\u2019m going to be okay, right?\u2019 And I was like, \u2018Oof, we have to write this.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This is Lany\u2019s first collaboration with Michaels, who is currently on tour with Pink through May 2019. Michaels contributed songwriting to Pink\u2019s upcoming eighth studio album <em>Hurts 2B Human<\/em>.
