Metric<\/a>\u2019s<\/span> black-and-white clip follows vocalist Emily Haines as she sings straight into the camera \u2014 dancing, spinning and occasionally breaking out into air guitar. She drifts through barren rooms, past graffiti-lined walls and onto what looks like a desolate film set, before the camera pans down to a discarded leather jacket, key and scribbled-on piece of paper.<\/span><\/p>\n

In a statement about the song, Haines noted that \u201cRisk\u201d \u201caddresses the disorienting speed at which our connections are made and discarded, where our emotional survival depends on dexterous texting, and our ability to communicate collapses outside our devices.\u201d She continued, \u201cSelf-sabotage, defensiveness and cynicism cause things to end before they begin, and the cycle repeats itself. But all is not lost: \u2018There\u2019s another way to leave the garden of Eden and I\u2019m inclined to try.’\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cRisk\u201d appears on the quartet\u2019s seventh LP, 2018\u2019s Art of Doubt<\/em>, along with the singles \u201cDark Saturday,\u201d<\/a> \u201cDressed to Suppress,\u201d<\/a> \u201cNow or Never Now\u201d<\/a> and \u201cLove You Back.\u201d<\/a> The band recently kicked off a Canadian arena tour that continues April 26th in Toronto, Ontario.<\/span><\/p>\n
