{"id":485264,"date":"2019-04-30T10:33:33","date_gmt":"2019-04-30T16:33:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/?p=829075"},"modified":"2019-04-30T10:33:33","modified_gmt":"2019-04-30T16:33:33","slug":"neil-young-displacing-re-release-schedule-for-new-crazy-horse-album","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/kqzr\/music-news\/neil-young-displacing-re-release-schedule-for-new-crazy-horse-album\/","title":{"rendered":"Neil Young Displacing Re-Release Schedule for New Crazy Horse Album"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/neil-young-crazy-horse.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/neil-young\/\" id=\"auto-tag_neil-young\" data-tag=\"neil-young\">Neil Young<\/a> and Crazy Horse have finished their first new album since 2012\u2019s <em>Psychedelic Pill<\/em> and are aiming to release it in the fall. \u201cWe believe we have a great Crazy Horse album, one to stand alongside <em>Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere<\/em>, <em>Sleeps with Angels<\/em>, <em>Psychedelic Pill<\/em> and all the others,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/neilyoungarchives.com\/#\/news?_k=ryq810\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Young wrote on his website.<\/a> \u201cUntitled at this moment, our Crazy Horse album with Nils [Lofgren], Ralphie [Molina] and Billy [Talbot] stands as one of our most diverse albums I have ever made and I can\u2019t wait for you to hear it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Young is releasing a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/neil-young-tuscaloosa-1973-live-album-826998\/\">recording of a 1973 show in Tuscaloosa, Alabama<\/a> on June 7th as part of his ongoing archive series. He originally planned on following it up with his 1975 unreleased LP <em>Homegrown<\/em>, but those plans have now been delayed to make room for the Crazy Horse album. \u201cRecorded at 9200 feet elevation in the Rocky Mountains, with our old tube board, mics and equipment, J[ohn] Hanlon and crew captured the master at 24\/192 High Resolution for a wonderful listening experience and it did not disappoint,\u201d Young wrote. \u201cA great dinner was served which we all enjoyed together, celebrating!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The album is Crazy Horse\u2019s first project since guitarist Frank \u201cPoncho\u201d Sampedro quit the group after a 43 year run. \u201cI\u2019m 70 and I\u2019m retired now and want to stay home,\u201d Sampedro recently told <em>Uncut<\/em>. \u201cPeople say, \u2018Isn\u2019t it sad you\u2019re not in Crazy Horse?\u2019 I don\u2019t think of it that way. I\u2019ll always be in Crazy Horse. I\u2019m as big a part of Crazy Horse as anyone that\u2019s ever been in it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He was replaced by Nils Lofgren, who played on Crazy Horse\u2019s 1971 self-titled LP. Two years later, he played on the <em>Tonight\u2019s The Night<\/em> album and tour with the Crazy Horse rhythm section of Billy Talbot and Ralph Molina. This new lineup of Crazy Horse <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-live-reviews\/neil-young-reunites-with-crazy-horse-at-intimate-fresno-gig-628897\/\">first played together in May 2018<\/a> during a brief tour of California theaters and in February of this year they played for nights in Winnipeg, Canada.
