The soundtrack to the upcoming Elton John<\/a> biopic Rocketman<\/em> will be released May 24 via Interscope and the first taste is a video clip of actor Taron Egerton<\/a>, who plays John, performing \u201cRocket Man.\u201d The video intercuts footage from the film<\/a>, out May 31, with shots of Egerton performing the track in the studio.<\/p>\n

The soundtrack, ROCKETMAN<\/span>: Music From The Motion Picture<\/em>, features producer and composer Giles Martin re-interpreting and re-imagining several of John\u2019s hits with Egerton on vocals. The songs include \u201cSaturday Night\u2019s Alright for Fighting,\u201d \u201cI Want Love,\u201d \u201cCrocodile Rock,\u201d \u201cTiny Dancer\u201d and \u201cYour Song.\u201d The soundtrack also includes brand-new Elton John and Bernie Taupin composition called \u201c(I\u2019m Gonna) Love Me Again,\u201d which was performed by John and Egerton.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was so important that the music I composed and recorded had to be sung by Taron,\u201d John said in a statement. \u201cI wanted his interpretation of me, through Bernie\u2019s lyrics & my music \u2013 not just acting. I left Taron in the hands of Giles Martin, who I trusted implicitly because he\u2019s brilliant. I didn\u2019t want to be in Taron\u2019s shadows, watching over the process, I trusted them to do what they needed to do, artistically, and listening back I\u2019ve been astonished with the results. Getting the music right was the most important thing, as the songs in the film are integral to the story.\u201d<\/p>\n

Egerton added, \u201cThe beauty of having Elton involved with the film is we\u2019ve been able to work with him to see how far we can take these classic songs. Giles Martin has impeccable taste and massive skills to bring the songs to a place where they are faithful and daring as well.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rocketman<\/em> also stars Jamie Bell, Richard Madden and Bryce Dallas-Howard, and was directed by Dexter Fletcher, who took over directorial duties on Bohemian Rhapsody<\/em> after Bryan Singer left.<\/p>\n
