David Crosby<\/a> reflects on drug addiction, personal tragedy and conflicts with former bandmates in the new trailer for David Crosby<\/a>: Remember My Name<\/em>. The Cameron Crowe-produced documentary \u2014 which recently premiered at the Sundance Film Festival \u2014 will open in New York and L.A. on July 19th.<\/span><\/p>\n

The clip opens with an interviewer asking the rock legend, \u201cDo you ever wonder why you are still alive?\u201d Without even a moment\u2019s pause, he fires back, \u201cI don\u2019t know, man. No idea.\u201d The 76-year-old songwriter proclaims that, despite his three heart-attacks and eight heart stents, he isn\u2019t planning to slow down. \u201cThe last few years, I\u2019ve made four solo albums,\u201d he says. \u201cI\u2019m going for five.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

From there, the teaser jumps back to the darkness that shrouded his early career \u2014 from the tragic death of his girlfriend Christine Hinton to crippling substance abuse. \u201cThere\u2019s just this emptiness,\u201d he says of Hinton\u2019s death. \u201cIt\u2019s like a rip in the fabric. A friend of mine gave me a shot of heroin. Feels great, only the first time. After that, you\u2019re just trying to catch it. And you never get back there, ever.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Crosby also talks about losing touch with the musicians of his past \u2014 including Graham Nash<\/a>, who appears in the trailer via a radio interview. \u201cAll the guys that I made music with won\u2019t even talk to me,\u201d Crosby says. \u201cAll of \u2019em.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

But the clip ends on a hopeful note, showing Crosby smiling onstage. Asked if he would trade his music career for a home life filled with \u201cextreme joy,\u201d he responds, \u201cNo music? No, not interested. It\u2019s the only thing I\u2019ve got to offer, really.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
