A sweater worn by Kurt Cobain<\/a> during the singer\u2019s last photoshoot with Nirvana sold for $75,000 at auction<\/a> Saturday.<\/p>\n

The cardigan<\/a>, which Cobain donned at a pre-In Utero<\/em> photo session in the summer of 1993, more than doubled its pre-auction estimate of between $10,000 and $20,000, Julien\u2019s Auctions said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe shoot was meant to take place in Central Park in New York City, but due to Cobain being sick just hours before, the shoot was relocated to the basement of the hotel where the band was staying,\u201d Julien\u2019s Auctions noted of the item. \u201cCobain showed up three hours late to the shoot and immediately asked for a bucket due to his nausea.\u201d<\/p>\n

Courtney Love later gave the sweater to \u201can acquaintance\u201d at Cobain\u2019s funeral. It is unclear if that acquaintance was the sweater\u2019s seller or if it changed hands since then.<\/p>\n

In 2015, Cobain\u2019s green cardigan from Nirvana\u2019s MTV Unplugged<\/em> performance sold<\/a> for $137,000 at auction.<\/p>\n

Nirvana\u2019s handwritten setlist<\/a> from an April 1990 concert in Washington, D.C., which Cobain wrote with black marker on a paper plate, sold for $23,000, more than 10 times its pre-auction estimate of $2,000. \u201cCobain had eaten some pizza before the show and proceeded to write the set list on the plate he had been eating his pizza on,\u201d the auction house said of the item.<\/p>\n

Other notable items from Julien\u2019s Auctions\u2019 Music Icons event Saturday included a black acoustic guitar used by Prince<\/a> onstage and in promotional materials (winning bid $89,000), a black jacket that Michael Jackson<\/a> wore to Nelson Mandela\u2019s birthday party in 1996 ($76,000) and Bob Dylan\u2019s handwritten and autographed lyrics<\/a> to \u201cBlowin\u2019 in the Wind\u201d ($70,000).<\/p>\n

However, the original Universal Audio console<\/a> used in Studio #2 of Bill Putnam\u2019s Western Recorders Studios in Hollywood, California \u2013 used to record artists like the Beach Boys, Frank Sinatra, Crosby, Stills & Nash and more \u2013 earned the auction\u2019s highest bid with $370,000.<\/p>\n
