Ever wonder what it\u2019d be like to booty call Carrie Brownstein<\/a>? Now\u2019s your chance. The playful lyric video for Sleater-Kinney<\/a>\u2018s long-awaited new single \u201cHurry On Home\u201d follows text banter between Brownstein and director Miranda July.<\/p>\n

As one might expect, the results are far from your average lyric clip. After seeing the Instagram announcement<\/a> that art-pop musician\/noted queer icon Annie Clark (a.k.a. St. Vincent<\/a>) would be producing the rock trio\u2019s upcoming album<\/a>, July tries to win back Brownstein\u2019s affection by text-spamming her lyrics: \u201cI\u2019ve made my mood your mood\u201d and \u201cDisconnect me from my skin.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a statement, drummer Janet Weiss enthused, \u201cI think for Carrie and Corin [Tucker] it was liberating to explore a different sound palette.\u201d Brownstein added, \u201cInstead of just going into the studio to document what we\u2019d done, we were going in to explore and to find the essence of something. To dig in deeper.\u201d Tucker described the recording process as a \u201cmanic energy of empowerment.\u201d<\/p>\n

The band is expected to release more music this year in anticipation of their forthcoming album, which follows 2015\u2019s No Cities to Love<\/em><\/a>. They will tour behind the LP this fall on a North American trek that launches October 9th in Spokane, Washington and runs through November 23rd in Seattle, Washington; general tickets go on sale Friday, June 14th at 10 a.m. local time.<\/p>\n
