It\u2019s the third single from his upcoming album <em>Western Stars<\/em>, but the first one to feature a video that he appears in.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTucson Train\u201d is the story of a down-and-out man that leaves San Francisco \u201ctired of the pills and the rain\u201d after his relationship with a woman falls apart. \u201cWe fought hard over nothing,\u201d Springsteen sings. \u201cWe fought till nothing remained\/I\u2019ve carried that nothing for a long time\/Now I carry my operator\u2019s license\/And spend my days just running this train\/And my baby is coming in on a Tucson train.\u201d In the video, he is joined by his wife Patti Scialfa and a band that includes strings and horns.<\/p>\n<p><em>Western Stars<\/em> (out June 14th) was recorded with a large band that includes original E Street Band keyboardist David Sancious and violinist Soozie Tyrell and organist Charlie Giordano from the current incarnation of the band. \u201cThis record is a return to my solo recordings featuring character driven songs and sweeping, cinematic orchestral arrangements,\u201d Springsteen said in a statement. \u201cIt\u2019s a jewel box of a record.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Springsteen has not talked about the album in any real depth since it was announced late last month, but in <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2018\/music\/news\/bruce-springsteen-talks-trump-new-album-and-hints-at-an-upcoming-tour-1203078221\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">December he did discuss it with <em>Variety<\/em>.<\/a> \u201cThat record is influenced by Southern California pop music of the \u201970s,\u201d he said. \u201cGlen Campbell, Jimmy Webb, Burt Bacharach, those kinds of records. I don\u2019t know if people will hear those influences, but that was what I had in my mind. It gave me something to hook an album around; it gave me some inspiration to write. And also, it\u2019s a singer-songwriter record. It\u2019s connected to my solo records writing-wise, more \u2018Tunnel of Love\u2019 and \u2018Devils and Dust,\u2019 but it\u2019s not like them at all. Just different characters living their lives.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As of now, there\u2019s not even a hint that he plans on supporting <em>Western Stars<\/em> with a tour.
