Innit Recordings has dropped Charles Bradley<\/a>\u2019s final recording \u201cLucifer,\u201d a track created alongside his recently released single<\/a> \u201cLonely As You Are.\u201d The new track, recorded during the final days of President Obama\u2019s time in the White House, was co-written and co-recorded with James Levy. Avett Brothers members Seth Avett and Mike Marsh backed the singer on \u201cLucifer\u201d (as well as \u201cLonely As You Are\u201d).<\/p>\n

\u201cCharles knew what he wanted to say and he said it quickly,\u201d Levy said of the song. \u201cHe wore his heart on his sleeve. A true singer.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bradley wrote and recorded \u201cLucifer\u201d and \u201cLonely As Your Are\u201d after he was diagnosed with stomach cancer in the fall of 2016, a medical issue that forced him to cancel a North American tour in support of his third album, Changes<\/em>. He spontaneously created both songs in a home recording booth. On \u201cLucifer,\u201d a soulful number with a spiritual undertone, the singer calls out Obama\u2019s successes, wailing, \u201cObama! You\u2019ve done what you had to do. Change the world!\u201d<\/p>\n

Bradley died at the age of 68 in September of 2017 from stomach and liver cancer. His posthumous album, Black Velvet<\/em>, was released last November via Daptone imprint Dunham Records.<\/p>\n
