His new song, \u201cFace of the Sun,\u201d embodies his new outlook. \u201cYou\u2019ve got to stop the hating\/The self-medicating,\u201d he sings over a stabby hard-rock guitar riff. \u201cIt\u2019s killing me \u2019cause you\u2019re so far gone.\u201d The track will appear on his upcoming album, <em>The Space Between the Shadows<\/em>, due out July 12th.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, Stapp released a video for the <em>Space Between<\/em> song \u201cPurpose for Pain,\u201d which addresses child abuse. \u201c\u2018Purpose for Pain\u2019 is about seeking a higher meaning, a spiritual mentality when dealing with our struggles and life\u2019s painful moments,\u201d he said in a statement. \u201cThere are unexplainable, dark times that everyone goes through, and that pain is real. If we can dig deep and hold on to hope during the most difficult situations, believing there is a purpose waiting for us on the others side, we can find meaning and clarity that gives us the strength to keep fighting.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In 2015, Stapp said that he had experienced a \u201cpsychotic break\u201d the previous year that put him on the path to redemption. The cause, he said, was drug and alcohol abuse. \u201cI was hallucinating,\u201d he told <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/scott-stapp-bipolar-disease-drugs-fueled-psychotic-break-68665\/\">People<\/a><\/em>. \u201cI drove around the United States for a month, following an angel that I saw on the hood of my car. In my delusional thinking, I thought my family was involved in ISIS, and that millions of dollars had been taken from me to support terrorism. All of it was nonsense.
