Micky Dolenz<\/a>, Christopher Cross and Todd Rundgren<\/a> are teaming up with former Chicago singer Jason Scheff and Badfinger guitarist Joey Molland for the It Was 50 Years Ago Today<\/em> tour celebrating the Beatles<\/a> White Album<\/em>. (Let\u2019s just ignore the fact that the album came out 51 years ago.) The show will mix in their own hits along with songs from the White Album.<\/em><\/p>\n

The fine print on the tour poster reads \u201cnot affiliated or endorsed by the Beatles individually or collectively,\u201d but many of the artists on the bill do have Beatle connections. Badfinger was the first band the Beatles signed to their label Apple in 1968 and members of the group played on the sessions for John Lennon\u2019s Imagine<\/em> and George Harrison\u2019s All Things Must Pass<\/em>. The group also performed at the Concert For Bangladesh alongside Harrison and Ringo Starr. Todd Rundgren, meanwhile, has been a mainstay in Ringo Starr\u2019s All Starr Band going all the way back to 1989 and as recently as 2017. Micky Dolenz befriended the Beatles during his days in the Monkees and was in Abbey Road studios when they recorded Sgt. Pepper Lonely Hearts Club Band.<\/em><\/p>\n

They haven\u2019t announced which non-Beatles songs they\u2019re going to play at the show, but if they stick to their signature tunes expect Christopher Cross to break out \u201cSailing,\u201d Ride Like The Wind\u201d and \u201cArthur\u2019s Theme (Best You Can Do),\u201d Todd Rundgren to revive \u201cBang the Drum All Day,\u201d \u201cHello It\u2019s Me\u201d and \u201cI Saw The Light\u201d and Micky Dolenz to do \u201cPleasant Valley Sunday,\u201d \u201cI\u2019m a Believer\u201d and \u201c(I\u2019m Not Your) Steppin\u2019 Stone.\u201d Jason Scheff replaced Peter Cetera in Chicago and didn\u2019t sing many hits during his long tenure in the group, but he\u2019s sang classics like \u201c25 or 6 to 4\u2033 and \u201cIf You Leave Me Now\u201d thousands of time in concert and likely will do them again on this tour. Joey Molland didn\u2019t sing lead in Chicago, but that probably won\u2019t stop him from playing \u201cBaby Blue,\u201d \u201cDay After Day\u201d and \u201cCome and Get It.\u201d<\/p>\n
