He was 50. A representative for Zdar told&nbsp;<em>Pitchfork<\/em> that the musician accidentally fell from \u201ca high floor of an old building in Paris.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Born Philippe Cerboneschi, he and Boom Bass (given name Hubert Blanc-Francard) first began releasing tracks under the moniker Cassius in the mid-Nineties, which led to remix projects with artists such as Air. Their debut album was titled after the year it was released, <em>1999<\/em>. In 2002, their sophomore album, <em>Au R\u00eave<\/em>, included a track (\u201cThrilla\u201d) featuring Wu-Tang Clan\u2019s Ghostface Killah.<\/p>\n<p>Following the release of 2006\u2019s <em>15 Again<\/em>, Cassius didn\u2019t release another album until a decade later when they dropped 2016\u2019s <em>Ibifornia<\/em>. In the interim between Cassius releases, Zdar, who also owned Paris recording studio Motorbass, worked as a producer, engineer and\/or mixer on a number of projects, including Chromeo\u2019s <em>Fancy Footwork<\/em>, Phoenix\u2019s <em>Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix<\/em> and the Rapture\u2019s <em>In the Grace of Your Love<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>For <em>Ibifornia<\/em>, the duo paired with Beastie Boys\u2019 Mike D and Cat Power for \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/see-cassius-mike-d-cat-powers-bizarre-tropical-action-video-156364\/\">Action<\/a>,\u201d and Cat Power also appeared on Cassius\u2019 \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/hear-cassius-cat-power-team-for-soulful-feel-like-me-118319\/\">Feel Like Me<\/a>\u201d and \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/cassius-announce-new-album-ibifornia-drop-two-new-tracks-54058\/\">Go Up<\/a>,\u201d which also features Pharrell Williams. Zdar had previously worked with Cat Power on her 2012 <em>Sun<\/em> album.<\/p>\n<p>Cassius recently unveiled their new single, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=WSzhvRjhwvY\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Don\u2019t Let Me Be<\/a>\u201d featuring Owlle.
