{"id":487585,"date":"2019-07-01T11:02:54","date_gmt":"2019-07-01T17:02:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/?p=853972"},"modified":"2019-07-01T11:02:54","modified_gmt":"2019-07-01T17:02:54","slug":"hear-belle-and-sebastians-buoyant-new-single-sister-buddha","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/kqzr\/music-news\/hear-belle-and-sebastians-buoyant-new-single-sister-buddha\/","title":{"rendered":"Hear Belle and Sebastian\u2019s Buoyant New Single \u2018Sister Buddha\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Belle-and-Sebastian.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p>Frontman Stuart Murdoch encourages strength and sunny optimism in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/belle-and-sebastian\/\" id=\"auto-tag_belle-and-sebastian\" data-tag=\"belle-and-sebastian\">Belle and Sebastian<\/a>\u2019s new single \u201cSister Buddha.\u201d The track will be featured in the Glasgow band\u2019s score for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/belle-and-sebastian-score-days-of-the-bagnold-summer-film-735054\/\"><em>Days of the Bagnold Summer<\/em><\/a>, out September 13th.<\/p>\n<p>The monochrome video features a woman getting up out of bed, buttoning her overalls and putting on roller skates that glide her along as she hoists a silver serving tray up in the air. \u201cStep across the lonely threshold of your selfish mind,\u201d Murdoch tells her.&nbsp;\u201cAnd embrace the loving goodness of your human kind.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The directorial debut of actor-comedian Simon Bird, the soundtrack also features some Belle and Sebastian deep cuts, including \u201cGet Me Away From Here, I\u2019m Dying\u201d from 1996\u2019s <em>If You\u2019re Feeling Sinister.<\/em> \u201cSimon was adamant he wanted to use it,\u201d Murdoch said in a statement. \u201cHe\u2019s a proper fan of the group.\u201d Also included is \u201cI Know Where the Summer Goes,\u201d from the 1998 <em>This Is Just a Modern Rock Song<\/em> EP and the incredibly rare \u201cSafety Valve.\u201d \u201cThat one\u2019s ancient,\u201d Murdoch says of the latter. \u201cIt predates the band; it\u2019s maybe 25 years old. The only time I can remember ever playing it was in a coffee shop with a friend of mine, and people scratching their heads.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The band kicks off a summer tour tomorrow in Sheffield, England.
