{"id":487809,"date":"2019-07-09T10:27:54","date_gmt":"2019-07-09T16:27:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/?p=856935"},"modified":"2019-07-09T10:27:54","modified_gmt":"2019-07-09T16:27:54","slug":"tegan-and-sara-to-remake-old-high-school-songs-on-new-album","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/kqzr\/music-news\/tegan-and-sara-to-remake-old-high-school-songs-on-new-album\/","title":{"rendered":"Tegan and Sara to Remake Old High School Songs on New Album"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/tegan.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p class=\"p1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/tegan-and-sara\/\" id=\"auto-tag_tegan-and-sara\" data-tag=\"tegan-and-sara\">Tegan and Sara<\/a> have remade some of the first songs they wrote together as teenagers for their new album, <em>Hey, I\u2019m Just Like You<\/em>, out September 27th via Sire.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The new LP is based on a trove of cassette tapes the duo discovered while working on their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/tegan-and-sara-new-memoir-high-school-767509\/\">upcoming memoir, <em>High School<\/em><\/a>, out September 24th. \u201cThey contained dozens of our first songs, written between the ages of 15 and 17,\u201d Tegan said in a statement. \u201cWe immediately recognized the songs as an essential part of our high school story.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">A trailer for&nbsp;<em>Hey, I\u2019m Just Like You<\/em> boasts old home movies of Tegan and Sara, as well as a snippet of one of the duo\u2019s old songs, plus its new version.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" type=\"text\/html\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/OjUMJVmgDVk?version=3&amp;enablejsapi=1&amp;origin=https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com&amp;rel=1&amp;fs=1&amp;autohide=2&amp;showsearch=0&amp;showinfo=1&amp;iv_load_policy=1&amp;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\">[embedded content]<\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Recorded in Vancouver in April and May, <em>Hey, I\u2019m Just Like You<\/em> finds Tegan and Sara returning to their rock and punk roots, while also incorporating elements of the pop production that\u2019s been hallmark of their past few records. \u201cWith only minor tweaks to lyrics and structure, we tried to remain true to the original essence of each song,\u201d Sara said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em>Hey, I\u2019m Just Like You<\/em> also marks the first album Tegan and Sara have created with a team of all women.
