{"id":487854,"date":"2019-07-10T10:40:52","date_gmt":"2019-07-10T16:40:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/?p=857387"},"modified":"2019-07-10T10:40:52","modified_gmt":"2019-07-10T16:40:52","slug":"violent-femmes-re-record-im-nothing-with-pro-skateboarder-stefan-janoski","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/kqzr\/music-news\/violent-femmes-re-record-im-nothing-with-pro-skateboarder-stefan-janoski\/","title":{"rendered":"Violent Femmes Re-Record \u2018I\u2019m Nothing\u2019 With Pro Skateboarder Stefan Janoski"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/VIOLENTFEMMES.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p>25 years after releasing \u201cI\u2019m Nothing\u201d off their sixth LP <em>New Times<\/em>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/violent-femmes\/\" id=\"auto-tag_violent-femmes\" data-tag=\"violent-femmes\">Violent Femmes<\/a> have rerecorded the track for their upcoming album <em>Hotel Last Resort<\/em>, out July 26th via PIAS.<\/p>\n<p>Featuring pro skateboarder and artist Stefan Janoski, the track is a much more fervent take on the original, complete with frontman Gordon Gano\u2019s raucous strums and jarring vocals. \u201cAre you a republican or a democrat\/A liberal fascist full of crap\/I\u2019m nothin,&#8217;\u201d he sings. \u201c\u2018I\u2019m Nothing\u2019 explores the modern conundrum of people needing to attach labels to other human beings,\u201d bassist Brian Ritchie said in a statement. \u201cWe refute that in human terms and also with our music.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The collaboration with Janoski came about when the skateboarder approached the band about teaming up for a skate shoe on his famous Nike SB line. The shoe will feature Janoski\u2019s artwork accompanied by \u201cI\u2019m Nothing\u201d in his handwriting. The left shoe will read VIOLENT while the other shoe reads FEMMES. Seems like a pair of shoes <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=JCua6plpIo0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Angela Chase<\/a> would wear.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m Nothing\u201d is the second track the band has released from <em>Hotel Last Resort<\/em> \u2014 they released the title track, recorded with Television\u2019s Tom Verlaine, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/violent-femmes-new-song-album-hotel-last-resort-828975\/\">last spring<\/a>.
