For the first time since Ryan Adams<\/a> was accused of sexual misconduct<\/a>, the singer broke his silence in a series of Instagram posts late Friday night.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have a lot to say. I am going to. Soon. Because the truth matters. It\u2019s what matters most,\u201d Adams wrote in one post<\/a>. \u201cI know who I am. What I am. It\u2019s time people know. Past time.\u201d<\/p>\n

In February, seven women \u2013 including ex-wife Mandy Moore, Phoebe Bridgers and \u201cAva,\u201d a then-14-year-old girl \u2013 accused Adams of sexual misconduct and emotional abuse in a New York Times<\/em> expos\u00e9. Soon after the article published, Adams said in a statement, \u201cTo anyone I have ever hurt, however unintentionally, I apologize deeply and unreservedly.\u201d<\/p>\n

The singer then took a lengthy break from social media\u2026 until Friday night, when he made nine Instagram posts, ranging from song snippets to in-studio photos to a Whitesnake album cover<\/a> to the lengthy statement to fans:<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t have an easy life. I lost my brother the day the Prisoner Tour ended. Every night wondering if he would be alive. He was proud of me. My family and my friends were there for that. And so many great fans. For the [M\u00e9ni\u00e8re\u2019s] community who suffer every day. This music was for then. It mattered. And that was always for it to help,\u201d Adams wrote.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo let\u2019s do that. THAT will matter. The amends made and things lost in the noise, that should\u2019ve mattered too. I want to be a part of that healing. To go play have some great shows and put out these badass records.\u201d<\/p>\n

Adams didn\u2019t address the accusations against him directly, but he wrote, \u201cBelieve Women. Believe Truth. But never give up on being part of solutions, and healing. I\u2019ve lost friends who have passed away in this time of self reflection and silence. I can\u2019t be like that. There\u2019s been too much that mattered.\u201d<\/p>\n

In addition to the statement, Adams shared a snippet of a new song titled \u201cI\u2019m Sorry and I Love You.\u201d Although the track boasts an apologetic title, it actually predates the Times<\/em> expos\u00e9 as it was one of the songs earmarked for the since-postponed<\/a> Big Colors<\/em>, one of the three albums Adams planned on releasing in 2019.<\/p>\n
