Following bullseye teasers this past week and even a hint in a previous music video<\/a>, Taylor Swift<\/a> released a new song \u201cThe Archer,\u201d from her forthcoming album Lover<\/em>, out August 23rd.\u201d The Archer\u201d marks the third offering from the album, following \u201cME!\u201d<\/a> and \u201cYou Need to Calm Down,\u201d<\/a> though Swift specified in her Instagram Live announcement that the song is \u201cnot a single.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Jack Antonoff-produced song is a somber, synth-heavy ballad centered around the metaphor of the archer, which is also Taylor Swift\u2019s birth sign, as she\u2019s a Sagittarius. The track follows in the informal tradition of Swift making the fifth track on her record the emotional and personal centerpiece (previous examples include \u201cWhite Horse,\u201d \u201cAll Too Well\u201d and \u201cDelicate\u201d).<\/p>\n

Along with the song, Swift announced that she would be releasing a total of 120 pages from her old diaries, which she has methodically kept since she was 13, inside deluxe editions of Lover<\/em>. Pages will include \u201cpictures drawn, photos of that time in my life,\u201d along with original lyrics to songs like \u201cAll Too Well.\u201d<\/p>\n

Swift recently appeared in the new trailer<\/a> for the film Cats<\/em>. She also received 10 nominations for this year\u2019s MTV Video Music Awards<\/a>, seven for \u201cYou Need to Calm Down,\u201d including Video of the Year, and three for \u201cME!\u201d The ceremony will air live from New Jersey\u2019s Prudential Center on Monday, August 26th at 8:00 p.m. ET\/PT.<\/p>\n
