For the version of \u201cThe 1975\u201d set to appear on the forthcoming LP, <em>Notes on a Conditional Form<\/em>, the band has instead chosen to highlight 16-year-old <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/climate-change\/\" id=\"auto-tag_climate-change\" data-tag=\"climate-change\">climate change<\/a> activist Greta Thunberg.<\/p>\n<p>Over a minimalistic piano track, Thunberg delivers a rallying monologue about the current \u201cclimate and ecological crisis\u201d occurring. She emphasizes the need to call it what it is and accept that we are still learning what exactly is happening. \u201cWe must acknowledge that we do not have the situation under control and that we do not have all the solutions yet,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n<p>The Swedish teen paints a grim picture of what our world will look like if we do not take action now, but she also offers glimpses of hope, recognizing the history of successful grassroots activism. \u201cTo do your best is no longer good enough,\u201d she continues, acknowledging that current laws around the world are not doing much to shift the course of what\u2019s happening. \u201cIt is now time for civil disobedience. It is now time to rebel.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe 1975\u201d is the first taste of&nbsp;<em>Notes on a Conditional Form<\/em>, but not the first single.
