The song previews a posthumous album of the musician\u2019s work titled <em>Thanks for the Dance<\/em>, which will be released November 22nd.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can\u2019t leave my house,\u201d Cohen intones on the moody track, which features piano and acoustic guitar. \u201cOr answer the phone\/ I\u2019m going down again\/ But I\u2019m not alone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn composing and arranging the music for his words, we chose his most characteristic musical signatures, in this way keeping him with us,\u201d Leonard\u2019s son Adam Cohen said in a statement. \u201cWhat moves me most about the album is the startled response of those who have heard it. \u2018Leonard lives\u2019! they say, one after the other.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>Thanks for the Dance<\/em>, available to <a href=\"https:\/\/smarturl.it\/ThanksForTheDance\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">preorder<\/a> now, also features musical contributions from Beck, Damien Rice, Feist, the National\u2019s Bryce Dessner, Arcade Fire\u2019s Richard Reed Parry, Daniel Lanois and more.<\/p>\n<p>Cohen <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/leonard-cohen-dead-at-82-113302\/\">died at 82<\/a> on November 11, 2016, a few months after releasing his final album,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-album-reviews\/review-leonard-cohens-you-want-it-darker-possibly-his-darkest-lp-yet-110031\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>You Want it Darker.<\/em><\/a> In 2018, Adam Cohen, who produced <em>You Want it Darker<\/em>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/posthumous-leonard-cohen-album-730462\/\">confirmed a posthumous album<\/a> from Cohen was in the works for release in 2019. In an interview with CBC\u2019s <em>q<\/em>, he said, \u201cI was tasked with finishing a few more songs of his that we started together on the last album, so his voice is literally still in my life. It\u2019s a bizarre and delicious entanglement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He added, \u201cTo make a long story short, I believe that there are some really beautiful new songs of Leonard Cohen that no one\u2019s heard that are at some point going to come out\u2026 There are these songs that exist that he wanted finished, these incredible powerful readings that were set to music.
