The 7-inch initially dropped in August via Merge, but the second track wasn\u2019t available to hear online until now.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/themountaingoats.bandcamp.com\/album\/welcome-to-passaic\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Welcome to Passaic by The Mountain Goats<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The roughshod track, originally created during the sessions for the band\u2019s 2017 album <em>Goths,&nbsp;<\/em>has a low-key indie rock vibe, with sparse lyrics that center on the line, \u201cI want to get high\/ And listen to the Cure all night.\u201d The song was recorded by frontman John Darnielle at home.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSpeaking of singles, Peter Hughes, on hearing \u2018Get High and Listen to the Cure\u2019\u2014written for <em>Goths<\/em>, attempted in the studio sessions in versions that lacked the snap of this demo\u2014felt certain this was the song that would make us a household name,&#8217;\u201d Darnielle said in a statement. \u201cI\u2019m fond of the song, though I don\u2019t share his conviction that it\u2019s the <span class=\"il\">Mountain<\/span>&nbsp;<span class=\"il\">Goats<\/span> song the whole world has been waiting to hear. Should this release prove Peter right, I will be quite content to concede the point.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The limited edition 7-inch also features a cut from <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-album-reviews\/review-mountain-goats-in-league-with-dragons-826607\/\">In League With Dragons<\/a>,<\/em>&nbsp;the band\u2019s most recent album, called \u201cPassaic 1975.\u201d The disc, pressed on black vinyl, is currently <a href=\"https:\/\/themountaingoats.bandcamp.com\/album\/welcome-to-passaic\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">available to buy<\/a> on the band\u2019s BandCamp page. The Mountain Goats dropped <em>In League With Dragons<\/em> in April.
