{"id":490570,"date":"2019-09-26T10:40:16","date_gmt":"2019-09-26T16:40:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/?p=890978"},"modified":"2019-09-26T10:40:16","modified_gmt":"2019-09-26T16:40:16","slug":"supergroup-saudade-preview-new-ep-with-devastating-instrumental-crisis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/kqzr\/music-news\/supergroup-saudade-preview-new-ep-with-devastating-instrumental-crisis\/","title":{"rendered":"Supergroup Saudade Preview New EP With Devastating Instrumental \u2018Crisis\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/saudade.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p class=\"p1\">Saudade, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/deftones-bad-brains-members-form-new-supergroup-90250\/\">supergroup\/collective<\/a> with a revolving door musicians that includes bassist Chuck Doom, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/deftones\/\" id=\"auto-tag_deftones\" data-tag=\"deftones\">Deftones<\/a>\u2019 Chino Moreno and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/bad-brains\/\" id=\"auto-tag_bad-brains\" data-tag=\"bad-brains\">Bad Brains<\/a>\u2019 Dr. Know, unveiled a new song, \u201cCrisis,\u201d from their forthcoming EP <em>Shadows &amp; Light\/Sanctuary Dub<\/em>, out later this year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cCrisis\u201d is a staggering instrumental that sweeps gracefully between swaths of mesmerizing synths, pummeling double kick drums and jazz-inflected noodling that lends the track a particularly spiritual edge.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Doom \u2014 who founded Saudade \u2014 helmed the track, writing it, co-producing it with Chris Bittner and performing it with keyboardist John Medeski, guitarist David Torn and drummer Gil Sharone. Doom also crafted the video for \u201cCrisis,\u201d which pays tribute to his mentor, the legendary bassist Jaco Pastorius.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cCrisis\u201d is one of four tracks that will appear on the <em>Shadows &amp; Light\/Sanctuary Dub<\/em> EP. The project will also include the previously-released song, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=flpa0oc_1fU\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">\u201cShadows &amp; Light,\u201d<\/a> which features Moreno and Chelsea Wolfe. Another upcoming track, \u201cSanctuary Dub,\u201d will boast theOGM and Yeti Bones of the Los Angeles punk group Ho99o9.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Per a press release, Saudade will keep recording through 2020, inviting various members and outside vocalist to contribute.
