The Nineties-tinged pop song has Cameron singing about an intoxicating love affair, claiming that she wants to \u201cwaste all my love on you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2018Waste\u2019 has always felt extremely special to me,\u201d she tells&nbsp;<em>Rolling Stone.&nbsp;<\/em>\u201cIt was always the one that grabbed me the most. It\u2019s probably the weirdest one; the production is definitely strange. I love that it\u2019s a love song without being a really melty, drippy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The darker synth-pop tune \u201cBloodshot\u201d eyes tells a different story: the singer has seeming endured a break-up and can\u2019t sleep anymore following the split. \u201cAnd my friends say I\u2019m losing my mind\/And my parents check in all the time,\u201d she sings on the chorus. \u201cBut it\u2019s harder to see you\u2019re not mine\/With my bloodshot eyes bloodshot eyes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" type=\"text\/html\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/fO9HGZDxytM?version=3&amp;enablejsapi=1&amp;origin=https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com&amp;rel=1&amp;fs=1&amp;autohide=2&amp;showsearch=0&amp;showinfo=1&amp;iv_load_policy=1&amp;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\">[embedded content]<\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p>As for \u201cBloodshot,\u201d she liked how \u201cuniversal\u201d the feeling in the song is, especially since the lyrics can be interpreted as more than just a romantic separation. \u201cI tend to really hate a break-up song,\u201d she admits to <em>RS<\/em>. \u201c\u2018Bloodshot\u2019 is focused on the own personal feelings of the narrator.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cameron previewed her new music earlier this week with a handwritten note posted on her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/B2w8NkHntxU\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Instagram<\/a>. \u201cWanna start by saying that I know it\u2019s been 6 years that I\u2019ve been promising music,\u201d she began. \u201cIt\u2019s been the strangest, most varied\/twisted journey to get to this point, but I\u2019m so glad that it was. Every time I tried in the past, it was never quite right and always a compromise of some kind.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cameron also assured fans that music will now be her main focus and that she will begin to more regularly release songs in the coming months. The announcement follows the end of a chapter for Cameron: she recently appeared in the third and final installment of Disney\u2019s <em>Descendants&nbsp;<\/em>trilogy where she played the fictionalized daughter of the villain Maleficent.
