The Flaming Lips<\/a> will celebrate the 20th anniversary of their 1999 masterpiece The Soft Bulletin<\/em> with a limited edition vinyl reissue this October.<\/p>\n

The 2-LP reissue, released exclusively through subscription service Vinyl Me, Please and pressed on mustard yellow, preserves the album\u2019s original 13-song vinyl track list \u2013 including the track \u201cSlow Motion,\u201d omitted from the U.S. CD release \u2013 and is accompanied by a new art print designed by frontman Wayne Coyne.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Soft Bulletin<\/em> is a record that\u2019s always with us\u2026 and we\u2019re always considering it\u2026 we\u2019re always playing it\u2026 we\u2019re always celebrating it,\u201d Coyne said of the reissue in a statement.<\/p>\n

The Soft Bulletin<\/em> is available to order<\/a> through Vinyl Me, Please\u2019s site starting today at noon EST; subscribers of the service\u2019s October Record of the Month will also an album-specific cocktail recipe and an invitation to partake in an exclusive Ask Me Anything-style live-stream with Coyne in October.<\/p>\n

\u201cDensely textured, awkward but somehow melodic, The Soft Bulletin finds these pop oddballs with their poker-faced humor firmly intact \u2014 \u2018When you got that spider bite on your hand\/I thought we would have to break up the band,\u2019 sings Wayne Coyne in his strained Neil Young-style voice, referring to an accident that could only have happened to the Lips, and did,\u201d Rolling Stone<\/em> wrote of The Soft Bulletin<\/em> in a 1999 album review<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cTheir music isn\u2019t, how you say, universally accessible, and the weirdness gets same-y, but no one else has posited a parallel universe in which the Sixties and the Nineties exist simultaneously, allowing for a peculiarly convincing brand of monolithic robotic swirl.\u201d<\/p>\n
