Kanye West<\/a>\u2018s latest album, Jesus Is King<\/em>, has not arrived as planned<\/a>. Despite a September 27th release date announced on social media<\/a>, sources close to the situation confirmed that the rapper\u2019s ninth solo album would not be released at midnight, as is typical for a major release.<\/span><\/p>\n

However, West will release something today, though it\u2019s currently not clear what. The rapper left Wyoming after one of his signature Sunday Service performances and meetings with executives from his label, Def Jam, and spent today in Detroit<\/a>. He performed Friday afternoon<\/a> at the Aretha Franklin Amphitheater \u2014 billing it as a Sunday Service despite the day of the week \u2014 and has another, more mysterious event planned for Friday night. <\/span><\/p>\n

A spokesperson for Detroit\u2019s Fox Theatre<\/a> confirmed reports that Kanye West will be holding an event tonight at 8pm at the venue. According to the event listing on Ticketmaster \u2014 admission is free, but the ticketing giant is the only way to receive a mobile-only ticket \u2014 it is the premiere of<\/span> Jesus Is King: A Kanye West Experience<\/span><\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The staff currently only has \u201cvague details\u201d about what the show entails, but it appears to be a \u201cmovie thing,\u201d says a rep for the theatre. The show was not booked prior to Friday. \u201cWe just found out about it, actually,\u201d the spokesperson told<\/span> Rolling Stone<\/span><\/em>. \u201cWe usually don\u2019t [book any events day-of], but it\u2019s Kanye West, he can get away with anything.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

The event will also be managed by Yondr, the San Francisco company designed to make live events phone-free. Yondr pouches will lock attendees\u2019 phones for the duration of the show, ostensibly to prevent leaks from inside the venue. <\/span><\/p>\n
