Radiohead<\/a> guitarist Ed O\u2019Brien has shared his first-ever solo song, \u201cSaint Teresa,\u201d a preview from his long-awaited debut solo album.<\/p>\n

Despite earning a reputation as a strong singer in his own right while backing up Thom Yorke at Radiohead gigs, O\u2019Brien relies entirely on his guitar work for his inaugural track. Performed under the moniker EOB, the five-and-a-half-minute instrumental is packed with the atmospheric tones and textures that O\u2019Brien, one of Rolling Stone<\/em>\u2018s 100 Greatest Guitarists<\/a>, has made a staple of his work in Radiohead.<\/p>\n

For \u201cSaint Teresa,\u201d O\u2019Brien teamed with noted producer Flood, whose long catalog includes albums by Nine Inch Nails, Smashing Pumpkins, PJ Harvey, Depeche Mode, U2 and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. Although O\u2019Brien didn\u2019t share any additional information about his EOB project, he promised that there would be more \u201csongs to come soon.\u201d<\/p>\n

In April, O\u2019Brien revealed that he had finished recording his first solo album, telling NME<\/em><\/a>, \u201cI\u2019m hopeful that it\u2019s going to be out in September or October. It\u2019s finished, I\u2019m just trying to finalize the record deal and find the right label. I\u2019m excited. It feels like a very different but exciting experience.\u201d According to the EOB website<\/a>, O\u2019Brien\u2019s record deal is with Capitol Records, Radiohead\u2019s former U.S. distributor.<\/p>\n
