The award recognizes the group\u2019s musical contributions as well as their philanthropic efforts, such as Steven Tyler\u2019s Janie\u2019s Fund, which provides support to young women who\u2019ve suffered abuse and neglect.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Aerosmith announced the MusiCares prize during the Thursday night performance of their Vegas residency show, <em>Deuces Wild<\/em>. The group cracked a few sly jokes about a band being named \u201cPerson of the Year\u201d \u2014 \u201cNot me,\u201d Joe Perry quipped \u2014 before Tyler said, \u201cSo let the music community live on and on, let the music do the talking!\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" type=\"text\/html\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Z0ggMcIGtiM?version=3&amp;enablejsapi=1&amp;origin=https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com&amp;rel=1&amp;fs=1&amp;autohide=2&amp;showsearch=0&amp;showinfo=1&amp;iv_load_policy=1&amp;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\">[embedded content]<\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Each year, the MusiCares benefit gala features an all-star tribute to the person or artist being honored, although a lineup for the Aerosmith show has yet to be announced. The gala will also feature a silent auction and proceeds from the event will benefit MusiCares, which helps musicians in need of financial, medical or personal assistance.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cAs we continue to expand our services to people in need, we are thrilled to pay tribute to one of the most beloved bands of all time,\u201d said Deborah Dugan, President and CEO of MusiCares and the Recording Academy. \u201cAerosmith has walked the walk when it comes to raising funds to impact music people in recovery. It is sure to be an amazing evening.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Aerosmith are in the thick of their massive <em>Deuces Wild<\/em> residency, the current leg of which will stretch through December 4th at the Park Theater at Park MGM in Las Vegas. The band will then resume proceedings in 2020 with a run that kicks off January 29th and wraps June 4th.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Last year, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-country\/dolly-parton-named-2019-musicares-person-of-the-year-719138\/\">Dolly Parton became the first<\/a> country artist to be named the MusiCares Person of the Year.
