Norah Jones<\/a> and Mavis Staples<\/a> have teamed for a new bittersweet ballad, \u201cI\u2019ll Be Gone.\u201d<\/p>\n

Written by Pete Remm, who co-produced the song with Jones, \u201cI\u2019ll Be Gone\u201d is a slow and steady soul tune with a gospel edge befitting the song\u2019s lyrics, which convey a potent mixture of grief, perseverance, struggle and absolution. \u201cThere\u2019s a place far from here,\u201d Jones and Staples sing together, \u201cGonna make it my home\/It\u2019s where I belong\/When I get where I\u2019m going, I\u2019ll be gone\/I\u2019ll be gone.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe first time I met Mavis she held my hand and we sang side-by-side to honor Paul McCartney,\u201d Jones said in a statement. \u201cShe is a beacon of love and light. It is always an honor, a pleasure, and a dream come true to sing with her. I hope we get to do more of it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jones and Staples have performed live together on numerous occasions<\/a>, including a rendition of \u201cYou are Not Alone\u201d at Staples\u2019 blockbuster 80th birthday concert<\/a> in May. But \u201cI\u2019ll Be Gone\u201d marks the first track the pair of recorded in the studio.<\/p>\n

Both Jones and Staples released solo albums this year as well, with the former\u2019s Begin Again<\/em><\/a> arriving in April and the latter\u2019s We Get By<\/em><\/a> in May.<\/p>\n
