The National<\/a>\u2018s new video for \u201cHey Rosey\u201d is a continuation of the band\u2019s short film, I Am Easy to Find<\/em><\/a>, which also shares a name with their 2019 album<\/a>. Swedish actress Amanda Vikander stars in the film (and appears on the album cover), and, according to film and music video<\/a> director Mike Mills, \u201cHey Rosey\u201d gives us a glimpse into Vikander\u2019s character\u2019s unconscious.<\/p>\n

The track features lead vocalist Matt Berninger dueting with Gail Ann Dorsey, one of David Bowie\u2019s long-time collaborators; the video stars dancer-choreographer Sharon Eyal performing a teetering dance backstage at one of The National\u2019s shows. Eyal also appeared in another I Am Easy to Find<\/em> clip, \u201cHairpin Turns.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cI had always loved the work of Sharon Eyal, especially her improvisation,\u201d Mills said in a statement. \u201cLuckily she was also a fan of The National and we began talking about her doing some dance work around the new record. For \u2018Hey Rosey,\u2019 we asked her to be a continuation of Alicia Vikander\u2019s character in I Am Easy To Find \u2014<\/em> a side of that character we didn\u2019t see in that film, the unconscious of that character, but really left that for Sharon to interpret. I think in subtle, strange, but really powerful ways she found movements and gestures that echo the feelings and themes in \u2018Hey Rosey.’\u201d<\/p>\n

Last month, The National announced that they\u2019ll be releasing a new live album<\/a> this fall, titled Juicy Sonic Magic<\/em>, which will be modeled after classic bootleg tapes. The audio \u2014 recorded over two nights at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley, California, in 2018\u2014 was captured using the same equipment and techniques as used by Seventies and Eighties concert taper Mike Millard.
