{"id":491098,"date":"2019-10-10T08:03:09","date_gmt":"2019-10-10T14:03:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/?p=897305"},"modified":"2019-10-10T08:03:09","modified_gmt":"2019-10-10T14:03:09","slug":"marcus-king-previews-dan-auerbach-produced-el-dorado-with-surging-the-well","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/kqzr\/music-news\/marcus-king-previews-dan-auerbach-produced-el-dorado-with-surging-the-well\/","title":{"rendered":"Marcus King Previews Dan Auerbach-Produced \u2018El Dorado\u2019 With Surging \u2018The Well\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/MK_EES_04-03-19_020.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p>Guitar game recognizes guitar game on the new album by Marcus King, which finds the South Carolina musician teaming up with producer and Black Keys guitarist <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/dan-auerbach\/\" id=\"auto-tag_dan-auerbach\" data-tag=\"dan-auerbach\">Dan Auerbach<\/a> to release King\u2019s first solo LP, <em>El Dorado<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Due January 17th, the album is a collection of 12 tracks, all written by King and Auerbach with songwriters like Pat McLaughlin, Paul Overstreet, and Ronnie Bowman. <a href=\"https:\/\/mk.lnk.to\/eldorado\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\"><em>El Dorado<\/em><\/a> also finds King backed up not by his eponymous <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/marcus-king-band\/\" id=\"auto-tag_marcus-king-band\" data-tag=\"marcus-king-band\">Marcus King Band<\/a> (as he was on his last effort, 2018\u2019s <em>Carolina Confessions<\/em>), but by Auerbach\u2019s roster of studio heavyweights, including keys payer Bobby Wood, drummer Gene Chrisman, and bassist Dave Roe.<\/p>\n<p>The result is an album that expands on King\u2019s established Southern jam-rock sound. On \u201cThe Well,\u201d the first song released from <em>El Dorado<\/em>, King embraces the blues, firing off ferocious solos and singing about the fantasy of \u201ceasy street.\u201d In short, it doesn\u2019t exist, but that doesn\u2019t stop King from pining for better times.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2018The Well\u2019 for me symbolizes the source of all my influences. It is everything that has happened to me to make me the man I am today,\u201d King says in a statement.<\/p>\n<p><em>El Dorado<\/em> was recorded at Auerbach\u2019s Easy Eye Sound studio in Nashville, where King now resides. In September, he made his Grand Ole Opry debut.
