{"id":491342,"date":"2019-10-17T06:40:34","date_gmt":"2019-10-17T12:40:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/?p=900216"},"modified":"2019-10-17T06:40:34","modified_gmt":"2019-10-17T12:40:34","slug":"beck-details-new-album-hyperspace-unveils-single-uneventful-days","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/kqzr\/music-news\/beck-details-new-album-hyperspace-unveils-single-uneventful-days\/","title":{"rendered":"Beck Details New Album \u2018Hyperspace,\u2019 Unveils Single \u2018Uneventful Days\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Screen-Shot-2019-10-17-at-5.34.50-AM.png\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/beck\/\" id=\"auto-tag_beck\" data-tag=\"beck\">Beck<\/a> has detailed his upcoming album <em>Hyperspace<\/em> and shared a pair of new tracks from the LP, single \u201cUneventful Days\u201d and album opener \u201cHyperlife.\u201d <em>Hyperspace<\/em>, Beck\u2019s followup to 2017\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-album-reviews\/review-beck-gets-back-to-having-fun-with-chrome-plated-funk-of-colors-119072\/\"><em>Colors<\/em><\/a>, arrives November 22nd.<\/p>\n<p>Like its predecessor, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/beck-new-single-saw-lightning-pharrell-williams-822457\/\">Saw Lightning<\/a>,\u201d \u201cUneventful Days\u201d was co-written and co-produced by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/pharrell-williams\/\" id=\"auto-tag_pharrell-williams\" data-tag=\"pharrell-williams\">Pharrell Williams<\/a>. While the previous single blended Beck\u2019s slacker folk leanings with Williams\u2019 upbeat hip-hop productions, their latest collaboration takes a more polished, synth-heavy approach.<\/p>\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/beck-interview-new-album-hyperspace-producer-pharrell-2558020\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">an interview with <em>NME<\/em><\/a>, Beck said that he had always wanted to make a record with Williams, but the opportunity didn\u2019t arise until after his tour in support of <em>Colors<\/em>. The duo originally planned on recording an EP before the sessions proved fruitful enough to lay the foundation of an album; Williams worked on seven of <em>Hyperspace<\/em>\u2018s 11 tracks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was not expecting the songs to come out how they did. I was going in thinking of songs like \u2018Drop It Like It\u2019s Hot\u2019, y\u2019know?\u201d Beck told <em>NME<\/em>. \u201cHe felt very strongly that spending a little time with me, that \u2018You need to be doing singer-songwriter type of songs\u2019. So that was more of the direction we went in. I really tried to be less ambitious on the production on these songs, like to let them be simple and let them breathe. It\u2019s more of an interior space\u2026 The meditation of the record is finding peace in moment.
