The track will appear on Gang Starr\u2019s first album in 16 years, <i>One of the Best Yet<\/i>, out November 1st.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cBad Name\u201d clocks in at just over two minutes and Guru wastes no time getting to the heart of the matter as he laments the current state of hip-hop. Over a vintage <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/dj-premier\/\" id=\"auto-tag_dj-premier\" data-tag=\"dj-premier\">DJ Premier<\/a> beat that swings between chopped-up horns and vocal loops, Guru spits, \u201cWord to God, if Big and Pac were still here\/ Some of these weirdos wouldn\u2019t act so cavalier\/ We all know that the game has changed\/ It\u2019s crazy out here, rap\u2019s got a bad name\/ Think about it, what if bling never happened\/ And the true artists were getting rich from rapping?\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">In September, DJ Premier announced the return of Gang Starr with the group\u2019s first song since 2003, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/gang-starr-j-cole-family-loyalty-887486\/\">\u201cFamily and Loyalty,\u201d<\/a> featuring J. Cole. DJ Premier began crafting <i>One of the Best Yet<\/i> in 2017, and he said in a statement he always believed the project would come to fruition, even after Guru\u2019s death in 2010.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-900709\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Gang-Starr-OOTBY-Album-Artwork.jpg\" alt width=\"600\" height=\"525\"><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cI never lost faith, or wavered,\u201d he said. \u201cI still felt it inside of me, it just happened to be nine years later [after Guru\u2019s passing]. We all want the things we want right now, but I am a patient guy. I hung in there and I just kept believing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><i>One of the Best Yet<\/i>, which is available to <a href=\"https:\/\/ingrooves.ffm.to\/oneofthebestyet\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">pre-order<\/a>, marks Gang Starr\u2019s first LP since 2003\u2019s <i>The Ownerz<\/i>. Along with J.
