Secret Service agents interviewed Eminem<\/a> over lyrics about President Donald Trump<\/a> and his daughter\/senior advisor Ivanka Trump<\/a>, BuzzFeed<\/a> reports.<\/p>\n

The rapper was specifically questioned about his song \u201cFramed,\u201d<\/a> from his 2017 album, Revival<\/i><\/a>, and his freestyle<\/a> at the BET Hip Hop Awards, which was also released that year. The freestyle was fiercely critical of Trump and opened with the lines, \u201cThat\u2019s an awfully hot coffee pot\/ Should I drop it on Donald Trump? Probably not\/ But that\u2019s all I got \u2019til I come up with a solid plot.\u201d And on \u201cFramed,\u201d he rapped, \u201cDonald Duck\u2019s on, there\u2019s a Tonka Truck in the yard\/ But dog, how the fuck is Ivanka Trump in the trunk of my car?\u201d<\/p>\n

Eminem and his legal team reportedly met with the Secret Service in January 2018. That August, Eminem released a new album, Kamikaze<\/i><\/a>, and on the song \u201cThe Ringer,\u201d<\/a> he rapped about the visit, saying, \u201cCause Agent Orange just sent the Secret Service\/To meet in person to see if I really think of hurting him.\u201d At the time the Secret Service declined to say whether or not agents visited Eminem, but documents obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request confirmed that they did.<\/p>\n

The Secret Service was reportedly alerted to the lyrics in \u201cFramed\u201d the day Revival<\/i> was released, December 15th, 2017. The tipster was a \u201cconcerned citizen,\u201d who turned out to be a TMZ employee seeking comment from the Secret Service and asking whether or not the agency was \u201cinvestigating Eminem for his threatening lyrics about First daughter Ivanka Trump.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to the report, the Secret Service called the lyrics on \u201cFramed\u201d \u201cthreatening,\u201d described Eminem as \u201cexhibiting inappropriate behavior\u201d and said that, through his music, he \u201cthreatens protectee.\u201d Along with questioning him about \u201cFramed\u201d and the BET Freestyle, the Secret Service also asked Eminem about a 2017 interview with Vulture<\/i><\/a>, in which he said Trump \u201cmakes my blood boil.\u201d<\/p>\n

While BuzzFeed noted that a substantial portion of the documents they received were redacted, the report still contained some nuggets. For instance, at one point during the interview, the Secret Service agents began reading Eminem\u2019s lyrics aloud and the rapper reportedly \u201cbegan [to] rap along with the interviewers as the verse was read.\u201d<\/p>\n

Following the interview with Eminem, the Secret Service decided not to refer the case to a federal prosecutor.<\/p>\n
